Volkstheater
Volkstheater in Vienna has been a defining spoken-theatre stage since 1889, positioning itself as an accessible counterpart to the Burgtheater: a home for classics, contemporary drama and socially engaged formats. Under Artistic Director Jan Philipp Gloger (from the 2025/26 season), the ensemble presents new productions, premieres, and series of talks and music. The main venue is the Main Stage in the historic house. The Rote Bar curates late-night shows, readings and concerts; the Weißer Salon hosts smaller-scale formats; the Dunkelkammer serves as a laboratory for experimentation.
