Grenzen der Live-Künste durcheinander zu wirbeln – das ist die Mission von Fronte Vacuo, derzeit Artists in Residence am Volkstheater. Seit vielen Jahren arbeiten Marco Donnarumma, Margherita Pevere und Andrea Familari international als Wissenschaftler*innen und Künstler*innen in Bereichen wie Künstliche Intelligenz, Bioart, Robotik, Musik, Critical Disability, Unconventional Computing, Queer Theory, Bildende Kunst, Choreographie und Multimedia.
2019 erschufen sie dann gemeinsam ihre Saga HUMANE METHODS – eine Serie von non-language-based Performances, direkt aus dem Schoße unserer Zeit. Ein kollektives Experiment in einem Kosmos aus Menschen, Gewächsen, KI-Algorithmen und robotischen Gliedern, das auf Gewalt, Machtstrukturen und Empathie innerhalb von Gesellschaften blickt – und Fragen zur kollektiven und individuellen Verantwortung stellt.
Für das Kapitel HUMANE METHODS [∑XHALE], das beim CTM Festival in Berlin, im Düsseldorfer tanzhaus nrw und in Wien im März 2022 im Volx zu sehen war, platzierte Fronte Vacuo die Besucher*innen inmitten eines sie umströmenden Ökosystems aus Keimlingen und Pilzen, Lichtstrahlen und Sounds, Erde, Kameras, Skulpturen und sechs menschlichen Performer*innen – sowie einer eigens geschaffenen KI namens <dmb>, die mit ihnen interagierte.
In sechs neuen Produktionen, verteilt über zwei Spielzeiten – von Einzelperformances und interaktiven Experimenten über Straßenaktionen bis hin zu großen Inszenierungen, die zugleich vor Ort und in der Datenwelt stattfinden – wird Fronte Vacuo im neuen Kapitel [6XXX6] nun die HUMANE METHODS-Welt in den Eingeweiden des Volkstheaters zum Leben erwecken.

The artist triumvirate Fronte Vacuo is on a quest to confuse the boundaries of live arts. For many years, Marco Donnarumma, Margherita Pevere and Andrea Familari have been working internationally as scientists and artists in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Bioart, Robotics, Music, Critical Disability, Unconventional Computing, Queer Theory, Visual Arts, Choreography and Multimedia.
In 2019, they collaboratively created their saga HUMANE METHODS – a series of non-language-based performances, an endless recounting of stories from a world within the fold of our time. A collective experiment in a cosmos of humans, plants, AI algorithms, and robotics, that looks into violence, power structures, and empathy within societies – and asks questions about collective and individual responsibilities. For the chapter HUMANE METHODS [∑XHALE], which was shown at the CTM Festival in Berlin, at tanzhaus nrw in Düsseldorf, and in Vienna at Volx in March 2022, Fronte Vacuo placed the visitors in the midst of an ecosystem of seedlings and mushrooms, lightbeams and sounds, soil, cameras, sculptures, and six human performers – as well as an AI called <dmb> which interacted with them. With six new productions over two seasons – ranging from one-on-one performances and interactive experiments to street actions and large productions taking place on site as well as in the world of data – Fronte Vacuo will materialise the world of HUMANE METHODS in its new chapter [6XXX6] within the guts of the Volkstheater.
#2 ¦IMPOSSIBILITY: The Kernel: Die neue Folge [6XXX6], #2 ¦MPOSSIBILITY ist ein Happening, bei dem der Nukleus der HUMANE METHODS-Welt enthüllt wird. Dieser Motor, der aus Körpern, digitalen Bildwelten und Schaltkreisen besteht, wird von einem*r Aufseher*in und der KI <dmb> am Laufen gehalten. Durch das Beiwohnen und Umgestalten der Performance geraten die Besucher*innen in einen Kreis aus Voyeurismus, Zwang und Gnadenlosigkeit.
